About the Practitioner

Carolyn J. Burnett, L.M.T., M.T.I., C.I.M.I.

After graduating from the Austin School of Massage Therapy in 1992, I've worked diligently to continue my education in massage and body work. I have taken classes in Post Surgical Adhesion Therapy, Myofascial Release and CranioSacral Therapy. Additionally I have taken two courses in energy work; Therapeutic Touch and Reiki. I am a Reiki Master.

My philosophy about body work is to help people help themselves. I believe that massage is one of the best body awareness tools available. Through body awareness we all learn what is working for us and what is not working. I also believe that my clients are not "mine". I know the scope of my practice and believe that all therapists have differing specialties and gifts. Not one therapist can be all to all clients. I receive therapy from several different practitioners and encourage my clients to do the same. I enjoy helping people feel better and love to watch them get better.

Some of my other loves are cooking and art. I graduated at the top of my class from Le Cordon Bleu in 2010 and I have a BFA - Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. I also received my Certification as an Advanced Food Healing Instructor through the Supreme Science organization. With that education, I reversed a personal debilitating disease through diet. In 2015, I launched "The Manic Organic Chef" (see that tab for more information). Staying healthy is important to me. I cook most of my meals at home and try to get regular exercise through the practices of Qigong, Breath Work, Meditation and walking. I live on an island... Ahhhh! Walks on the beach are part of my regular routine!

I also have a daughter, Son-In-Law and grand-dog that visit often! They are busy working and going back to school. My daughter is the only female in a Welding Engineering program. I can't wait to see what she does when she gets out of school!
